Yes, the key acts like a push-to-talk, so it works as long as you hold it down. I set mine up to listen for a keyword, but then I'm on a desktop so don't have to worry about battery life or heat. It's pretty neat, though; I can just call out, "Alex, what time is it" and get told, or tell it to open an app or quit something.
