1. You can read, but not write, the mac partition in windows. It works the same 
in mac os: you can read the windows partition, but not write to it.
2. I use Carbonite, but my understanding is that you can't back up both as they 
are different partitions. You could pay $99 per year to back up your primary 
drive and a backup drive (your other partition) but the basic, $59/year package 
allows only one drive to be backed up. You can call carbonite (1-877-2225488) 
and check with them. As to accessibility, the site works, and the client works 
well enough on Windows (you may need the jaws cursor though). I don't know 
about the mac client as I have not yet tried it.
