I missed some of this thread, so if I am misunderstanding the issue, I apologize or if this has been suggested before. Did you hide the tab bar as well? Also, I've had a lot more success having pages open in new windows and not tabs. When a page loads, I can start using the tab key and VO automatically interacts.
