As for DocuScan, it only works in English, so is no use to anyone using other languages. Also, as you say, it's cloud based so you need a decent Internet connection to use it and for anyone wanting to scan documents away from home, that's not always practical. VueScan plus ABBYY FineReader costs under $200. I'm not sure of the exact sum because I'm in France and Appstore prices are in euros for me. VueScan has to be purchased from the developer's site and costs $39 for one year, or $79 for a lifetime. We've had VueScan for around ten years which has made it very good value for us.
