Yep, I downloaded the whole shooting match- about 19 GB worth. It took a few
hours but went quite smoothly. I haven't looked at them yet in GB, just in
the finder. MainStage also looks kind of interesting and I think with a
little patient thought and trial and error, one can crack that nut too.

Subject: GarageBand expansion packs
Mainstage is quite well labeled etcetera but I have no need for it (apart
from the Jam Packs) so have never actually tried to do anything with it.
From memory, I went to the MainStage menu in the menu bar, chose something
along the lines of download additional content, and then I was able to
choose which Jam Packs I wanted to download. These Jam Packs are pretty huge
(as in several GB each), so it's probably a good idea to just download them
one at a time. I know some people have had crashes when trying to download
everything at once.
The process of downloading the Jam Packs was perfectly accessible for me and
all the downloaded content automatically showed up in GarageBand without me
having to do anything.
Glad this was of help to you. I hope the download process is smooth and you
start making some funky new tunes with all that fantastic additional
content.
