I find Handbrake to be pretty accessible and it will do what you want. You'll 
have to google it; I don't have a direct link, and there's no way that app 
would be allowed into the App Store. Sorry to the mods if they see this as 
being illegal, but my view is that if I own a dvd, I am free to back it up, 
watch it on a computer that has no drive, stream it over a local network, or 
whatever I want.
