Hi Alex.
I am not sure about virtual box.
I wasn't able to use it when i tried it last, i use vmware fusion.
I will try this today however.
The volume control, i think within windows 7, just change the volume slider 
with in windows.
It still will be a little lower however.
Under the preferences in virtual box, you should see mac host shortcuts.
Disable these and your f keys should work as well.
