How do I switch between commands help and getting started? Is there any way to hide the getting started option? How is verbosity changed, or does this not apply to MacBookPros? ----- Original Message ----- From: "John Panarese" <[email protected]>

Start with VO-h. That is the main help menu and contains all of the ways to get help, including commands help and the getting started guide. It is the best place to start.

Adding additional languages for VoiceOver is done through the VoiceOver Utility under the Speech category in the Voices tab. You need to select the, Custom, from the default voice popup button and then use the table that will next be presented to choose the other voices you desire. Check the boxes of the ones you want. There is a, play, button to the right for samping voices. When you have made your selections, choose the, OK, button, to download the voices. Be aware that some of the voices are large, so they might take some time to download.

Once you have them, you can choose them from the popup button or, as an easier alternative, you can use control-option-command-right or left arrow until you get to, Efault Voice. Then use control-option-command-up or down arrow to change the voice.

I'd like to change both if possible. Are there other ways of accessing more detailed VO support from the product directly? Tried pressing VO+f8, to get in to VO specific settings, but this didn't work. Am I missing a step?

You can hit the escape key to get out of the getting started tutorial. If that doesn't work, try the letter v key.

Are you talking switching VoiceOver languages or the keyboard language?

Hi Chris,
As think I stated in another message, my MacBook Pro is in operation: just not sure how to get past the getting started tutorial. How much is that paid utility for use in Windows you mentioned? How do I change the languages in VO?

Hello Anita
Windows on mac is discussed quite a lot on this and other lists.
While it is possible to run Windows on mac, the easiest and truly accessible way to do this is with a paid product called Vmware Fusion. That's all I will say for now until you get your mac up and running. I'm only trying to save confusion here, and hopefully not being more a hindrance than a help.
Chris.

Hi Chris,
Will I be able to use Windows too on my Macbook Pro. I don't
remember if discussion of that topic was mentioned on here yesterday.
Perhaps it was another list.

Hello Anita
then it's the Macbook Pro with non-retina display. This is the only
choice now if you want one with an optical drive built in.
Chris.

Hi List,
I'm getting a MacBook, but am not sure how to choose the best
one. Having a CD slot is essential. This may limit my
selections/choices, buthaving a laptop is what I want, and just wanna
get the most for my money.
   Thanks for any info.
