I had a MacBook for a very short time, and never found out if VO commands
can be comustized, or not? The learning curve seems very steep to me, and I've
tried searching for podcasts and documentation.

I've been using a Mac for four years, and I was surprised to see that
comment. Frankly, I think that you can tell that Voiceover is integrated into
the operating system, it just works much more smoothly than do the third-party
screen-readers.. It doesn't hang like JAWS does, I'm not stuck in blank
screens where I don't know what's going on, etc. Personally, I don't see
Voiceover as being limited in any way.

HI. I've owned my mac for over a year now. I do run a vm from time to
time but am finding less and less need to go in to windows. It did take me a
while to learn, but the thing I love about the mac is that it just seems to
work. No laggie pauses when you hit a key and wait for 5 seconds for a screen
reader to tell you what's happening etc. I feel like I have the best of both
worlds, I can use windows if I need to, and I can have the stability of the
mac.

Okay, the fact that Apple tries to protect the users from themselves

As someone said earlier, when an app conks out on you, the whole
system doesn't go with it, and that is worth the cost difference to me. How
many times have I had my windows computer freeze on me because of one app, I
honestly cannot say. This however, does never happen on the Mac, not to my
knowledge anyway.
Another point to the Mac, is the fact that if and or when your
operating system breaks, you can do a complete reinstall on your own, something
which is impossible using windows.
Something else that benefits me greatly, is the built in dictation
feature of Mountain lion. Due to only having one hand, my typing speed has been
decreased by at least half. Now, that is no longer a factor, and another reason
why the mac is cost effective for me. It increased my productivity two levels
higher than before I lost the use of my hand, obviously because I can talk
faster than I could ever type.
There you have my contribution to the Mac versus Windows debate, no
matter how insignificant it maybe.

the switch fro Windows to Mac rather arduous because my computer had a couple

shelling out money on a system she won't like. I ask about running Windows in
boot camp or through another avenue because she enjoys mudding and uses VIP mud
which is made only for windows so will likely need to use this in the short
term at the very least until she can find a client that works as well with
voiceover on the Mac.
