I think you might be right, Chris. They've designed it to look like a virtual desktop. It's meant to look like what your computer's desktop would look like at work. So maybe that would make it a little more intuative for some people as they can interact with it as they would their desktop. But I tend to agree with you and think they'd have made life easier for everyone, including themselves, if they had just stuck to an ordinary website design. Sigh.
