OK, David, let me take a go at this. I think I may know what is going on. Let me ask you something. Are you going to the drive itself in the table, or are you actually highlighting one of the vbolumes/partitions within that drive. For example, don't highlight macintosh HD. You do not want to be on a volume in that table. If you are, then you'll experience the exact results you are describing. Instead you want to be on the top node of the drive on the actual disk itself in the table, not? any volumes there withon the drive.
Does that kind a make sense? then, once that is done, stop interacting with the table, and then try to vo+right arrow over to the partition tab. Vo+space on it to select it, then you should be on your way. Give that a try. If it doesn't work, let me know. If you need me to help you one on one I'd be happy to.
