99% of the time, I use a headset with my macbook air, so all I have done…


I unplugged my headset, so sound would come out of the speakers, then I muted 
the sound and plugged in my headset again.  This way, when I turn on my mac, 
the chime doesn't happen, yet I still get all sound via my headset.  If I ever 
want the sound again via my speakers, I just unmute.  ;) pretty simple solution.
