Hi,

A couple of things that I’ve noticed regarding this sort of thing:

1. On my iMac at home, when waking, VO focus is confused. It’s within the
authentication app but not focused on the Authentication window. I click on
the physical button of my Magic Trackpad which brings focus to the window and
I’m able to use VO properly to authenticate. If I don’t click the trackpad,
things just do the thud or tink noise.

2. On my MBP Late 2011, when I open the lid, VO isn’t quick to start talking
but if I press return once, enter my password an press return again, then VO is
ready to talk on whatever app has focus.

3. On a new MBA I’ve been working on lately, I had similar things to what
others have spoke of but only once so haven’t been able to determine the issue.

Consider moving your finger on the trackpad a little then clicking it to see if
it wakes your machine. You may also wish to take a look in System Prefs in the
Mission Control pane to see if any Hot Corners are set that could be causing
the issue. Hot Corners are things that happen when your mouse is place in
specific corners of the screen.

Later…
