I think the advantage of the Time Capsule would be that it is wireless and convenient, and is also a fast and powerful wifi router. One thing to keep in mind, however, is you cannot use a Time Capsule for bootable duplicates/clones of your disc. I think bootable duplicates are an important part of any backup strategy, so you should get an ordinary external hard disc whether or not you also get a Time Capsule.
