Thanks Nick, I really appreciate your feedback. Guess I am going to go with the less expensive USB or Fire Wire since that is what my iMac has drive. I got a Seagate a year ago but sent it back as it wouldn't properly mount, and after reading all the reviews for Seagate external drives, mounting on a MAc still seems to be an issue with them, so looks like I will go LAcie or Passport as I have heard good things about both of them.
