Hi, Alex, VO works ok with the shell, but once you start using applications like Alpine for mail and text web browsers, VO HAS some pretty awkward tracking issues. Brtty is specifically designed to work with a terminal and does a wonerful job of it. It's the only screen reader I know of that uses Braille as primary output and speech as a backup. And for getting around the Unix-like system, nothing beats it, IMO.
