Yes, this is absolutely not just an interesting and novel project to do for the
fun of it though you could enjoy that too if you like a challenge! Tracking and
using braille in terminal, at least for me, works way better with brltty than
with voiceover's braille. Plus you don't get all those line end symbols etc
showing throughout your text and screen output. You do have to use the screen
program with brltty at this point and this is why it is still restricted to use
in terminal; it isn't that native screen support wouldn't be possible on the
Mac but as I understand it nobody working on brltty has been able to get access
to that information at this point. It is used across several platforms
including I believe Android phones though I don't have and android phone so
haven't experienced it there. It supports a wide array of braille displays
including many of the older usb-serial devices that Apple doesn't support but
it also supports a variety of newer displays with usb and bluetooth capability.
If you want to learn more you can go to
http://www.mielke.cc/brltty
and there is also a brltty email list.

I tried and tried to turn over a new leaf.
I got crumpled wads of tear-stained paper
thrown in the trash!
Then God gave me a new heart and life:
His joy for my despairing tears!
And now, every day:
"This I call to mind,
and therefore I have hope:
The steadfast love of the Lord
never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness."
(Lamentations 3:21-23 ESV)
