Hi Amy
Since you are not yet sure about the job you might get, you might also want to
consider the weight of a braille display you get and the features that come
with it. I know that my situation is different than most because I have a
business doing braille proofreading. In my case I need 40 cells on at least one
braille display and preferably two in case one goes to the braille display
hospital.

Recently, my old PacMate finally crashed, and I had to make a dcision about
whether to spend more money on it or get something new. Its braille display was
in good shape, so I had to decide whether to keep it or sell it.

I bring all this up because I started out wanting to get another 40 cell
display by buying a Focus 40 Blue. That is, until I discovered that those
babies cost as much as my Braille Edge 40, which has more features, such as the
ability to have stand alone note taking features. I paid about $3,0000 and my
Braille Edge 40, and they wanted $2,895 for the Focus 40 Blue, and it is only a
computer braille display; it also is heavier than my Braille Edge 40. So, I
ended up keeping the PacMate Braille display which has 40 cells, keeping my
Braille Edge 40 which I won't give up unless I have to, and buying a focus 14
so that I could have another keyboard for my computer and iPhone. That only
costed me about $1295.

If you can find somewhere to go where they have some of these things in one
place, it might save you from some disappointment on a Braille display.

Before you ask, in my business it benefits me at times and increases efficiency
to have two braille keyboards, which is something almost nobody else will need
or find beneficial. I wouldn't find it needful either if programs were set up
better for braille proofreaders so that I didn't have to count lines and find
page numbers.

Oh, and you never know about what might happen with regards to what you might
get at work. I just talked to someone whose employer bought them a Mac Book
Pro.

Regards,
Gigi
