I also have this issue, running Ubuntu Breezy on IBM Thinkpad X30 with
AR5212 PCMCIA card (SMC).
I ''did'' follow the Ubuntu compilation instructions. I was previousy
running the madwifi-old binary drivers that came with Ubuntu.
