Reverting this patch actually causes problems for me (unmodified 0.9.2
works). The problem is that, with this patch reverted, the driver doesn't
seem to send the "Scan request completed" message (via
wireless_send_event) when scan results become avaliable.
This causes problems with wpa_supplicant. When wpa_supplicant starts, it
starts a scan and waits for the event indicating scan request completed
(this never arrives). After about 20 secs it gives up waiting and just
reads the results anyway.
It's easy to verify this behaviour change. Run "iwevent" in one console,
then in another console load unmodified madwifi-0.9.2, bring the interface
up, and start a scan (iwlist ath0 scan). Notice that iwevent has reported
"Scan request completed"
Now unload all the madwifi modules, revert the patch, recompile, reload
modules, and repeat the scan test. iwevent reports no scan completed
event.
