 Well, all is not perfect in the palace, but still greatly improved!  When
 the laptop is "suspended", and then "comes to", it is unable to connect to
 an active access points, even though it is clearly recognized,
 /sbin/iwconfig gives

 lo        no wireless extensions.

 eth0      no wireless extensions.

 wifi0     no wireless extensions.

 Any ideas on wireless reconnecting...?

 Also, any ideas on correcting the kernel 2.6.24.4 oops that as plagued my
 little "exploration" from the start, even though ath5k is blacklisted?
