Comment (by [EMAIL PROTECTED]):

I cannot get the madwifi driver to work on a Compaq Presario F700 laptop -
 the output of dmsg is:

 ath_hal: 0.10.2.2-ATHEROS (AR5210, AR5211, AR5212,...
sysctl table check failed: /dev/ath0 .7.9 Unknown sysctl binary path
 Pid: 760, comm: modprobe Tainted: P 2.6.25 #4
 [<c043bf82>] set_fail+0x33/0x40
 ...

 The ouput from lspci is:
03:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR242x 802.11abg
 Wireless ...
 Subsystem: Hewlett Packard...
 Memory at f6000000 (64bit, non-prefetchable) [size=64k]
 ...
 kernel driver in use: ath_pci
 kernel modules:ath_pci

The distribution is Fedora 9, the kernel is 2.6.25

the output of iwconfig ath0 is

 ath0 IEEE 802.11g ESSID:LINKSYS Nickname:"John"
Mode: managed Frequency:2.447 GHz Access Point:not associated
         Bit Rate: 1 Mb/s Tx-power:16dbm Sensitivity: 1/1
Retry: off RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
         Power Management: off
         Link quality=0/70 Signal level=-94 dbm Noise level=-94dbm
         ...

The radio switch on the front of the computer is turned on.

Can you tell me what is wrong? Thanks very much

 I used snapshots.madwifi.org/special/madwifi-ng-r2756+ar5007.tar.gz
and the code compiled and installed with no apparent problems
