Page places the loaded image onto a larger 'virtual' canvas with an
offset.   It also defined the page size for reading in PDF and PS images
in pixels at the current resolution density.

I am not sure of its effects on generating PS and PDF images, though I
am sure it has an effect here too.

Remember IM is not designed for vector graphics (lines and object
overlaying), but a raster graphics (rectangular images of pixels)
PS and PDF are vector graphic lanuages.
