IM itself however does not seem to handle that AVI type directly,
But then I may not have the right delegate library installed to do so.
The best option is to use mencoder (part of mplayer) to extract the images.
This should handle ALL video types, when the codecs are also installed.
Mplayer and xine plays it fine under linux.
mplayer pict5714.avi -ao null -vo png:z=3
convert -delay 1/10 *.png pict5714.gif
animate pict5714.gif
I suggest you do this in its own sub-directory.
