Shoot, accidentally took this off-list. C-c C-X would serve the same purpose in Magit as it would in other modes: leaving the normal keybindings available for the normal operations (in this case Magit).
I'd like to reserve / for possible future git grep integration, / being the universal(ish) character for "search".
