well I think the extension itself should be a (define-minor-mode ...) that would "aggregate" the keymap, hooks, ... and deal with the registration/unregistration of the various hooks into the magit-core commands. (which makes me wonder whether the hooks in magit-core should be made local variables, btw) Anyway, it's not very important. As I said, I'm pretty sure that what you propose can be combined into a minor-mode, so we can rediscuss that later if need be. Yann.
