Yeah, it effectively runs `git status` to get what it needs. If the repository isn't in hot cache (ie. after a reboot or a movie break, both of which are very rare), it takes upto 30 seconds to get a prompt: if I don't turn on the prompt, I'll have to wait that amount of time when I execute `git status` by hand anyway.
