Hello, this definitely doesn't seem normal -- I have some performance problems sometimes, but it's just because the IMAP server I use is overloaded during the "rush hour". When I use an IMAP server on the LAN everything is instantaneous. RD> Does anyone know what the problem here might be? Unfortunately no. Please try enabling the "Debug mail ..." option in the last page of the preferences dialog (which will slow down the program even more normally but this is not the point) and look if there is something wrong going on, i.e. what commands does it send to the IMAP server. If you don't see anything obviously wrong, please post the log of a [brief] session here so that I could have a look at it -- thanks! This seems to have no effect on my problem, however. It hardly should... What can be (very) slow is sorting/threading large mailboxes, but I don't see why would it do it when retrieving messages. Frankly, I don't see anything -- hopefully the debug log can show something. The only explanation I see is that the download itself happens quickly but that the program itself is too slow for your machine but I can't quite believe it neither. Just for the record, what kind of machine is it? Also, if you run top (or whatever is its equivalent under IRIX), how much CPU usage does it show for M?
