I think the settings were ok for the last days. But only with "Resend" I was able to get a mail into the "Outbox". Sending from the Outbox then was never a problem. Sorry, I cannot be more precise ... Wouldn't it be a good idea to have an optional "verbose" mode for verbose logging to the logfile?
