While converting from MSWindows to Linux, I wrote a Perl script (see
M-config.zip in http://home.ix.netcom.com/~mchase/zip/) to extract the
configuration from the MSWindows registry and write it to a config file.
I then moved my mailboxes to a filesystem visible from both MSWindows
and Linux.  I had to hand-modify the file specifications and maintain
separate config files, but both versions were able to use all the same
mailboxes and other files.  Periodically 'diff'ing the config files
helped me keep them in sync.
