Basically the problem is that with a bug like this which I can't even reproduce here I know in advance that nothing is going to be done about it without some more investigation from the reporters side. So if the person feels strongly about it and tries to help, I try to look into it, otherwise... I know it's not "right" but there is simply not enough time to do the right thing.
