My recollection, when this topic came up for discussion on
this list, is that everyone who spoke to the issue as a user
agreed that deletion from the virtual folder should imply
deletion of the msg. This is certainly my view and my
expectation, for this and any other change to the msg
status (like moving the msgs to a folder, marking as read or
as important, etc.) In addition, it is a very important
functionality, much more so I think than being able to
delete msgs from the search folder while leaving them in
their original folder.
At the very least, one should be able to choose this
desirable behavior as an option. My view of course is that
it is expected and therefore should be the default.
Removing some results from the search results folder might
be accomplished by allocating a search-folder specific
hotkey: e.g., H (hide) or D (vs. d). However I would
personally favor just adding to the context menu, between
Delete and Undelete, an option 'delete from search folder'.
