Ah, you're right, of course. This is definitely weird, but I see VZ
has changed it already so all is well.

Ah, interesting point. For the folder tree pane, it looks like you
could get the desired effect jsut by clicking in a blank area of the
window. I didn't realize this wasn't the case for the message list pane.
Clicking on the scrollbar would work, but it would be nice if there was
a small "margin" where you could click to change focus to the window
without actually selecting a message. Another approach I've seen used
in other programs is that you can only actually select the message by
clicking on the subject line -- clicking in the other columns switches
focus to that window, but doesn't actually change the selection.
One particular bit of strangeness is that the Status column seems
to have a "fake" margin on the left. When I click in this area, the
message on that line is selected, but the highlighted selection box does
not actually contain the area that I clicked in; this is somewhat
puzzling.
