I temporarily changed my SMTP password
to be my userid. (Why is irrelevant.)

So I go to
Edit/Preferences/Network
and enter an SMTP server password.
It seems that this is not accepted
(and without warning) if it is the
same as the SMTP server user ID.

That is, if I close the dialogue with the
"OK" button, and then reopen it, I find
the value was not stored.

So I change both as an experiment:
I make both the same.
The values are stored.

So I change back to my real user id and
try again to set the password to that value:
same odd behavior as before.

Any clues??

Alan
