 I can't reproduce this unfortunately. There must be something else which
triggers the bug, but if only I knew what... I've even tried using your
config file but still no luck.

 Here is what I did:

1. start the program
2. press Ctrl-Shift-E
3. go to "network" page
4. enter "foo" in SMTP username field
5. enter "foo" in SMTP password field
6. press Ok
7. press Ctrl-Shift-E again: the password is hidden but you can see it has
   3 letters

 Does exactly the same sequence of step result in this bug in your case?
