what probably is happening is the generic initialisation string given to the modem by kppp is confusing the modem. i dont use kppp so i cant tell how to change / disable that. please read the kppp "help" for details on that. all modems load a default profile when they are switched on and you dont need an additional string under normal circumstances. best regards bobby
