hi linuxians,
i am a silent watcher of this group and after hearing you peoples
discussion i think its time to start some thing.
what you people is now discussing is in my mind from the very
begining after i introduced to linux.
before that a breif about me i am an software engineer working in
an cmm l 5 company in cochin .
if we want to make linux popular like windows then we should
develop applications with good and easy user interfaces which can be
easly accessed by the normal user for there regular purpose.
what i sujjest is our community can develop simple applications (CD
writing applications with nero like interface which is easy to install
and configure by the ordinary people, accounts management ,video
lending library software etc....)
with good user interface (this is a must) which will be useful to the
normal people as the hardware is very cheap now a days if ordinary
applications like the one's stated aboce with good user interface is
available for them then the ordinary people will come to use linux .
now educatinal softwares and other multimedia softwares can also be
developed. we can develop failover routing or switching hubs for the
cafe's even linux servers can be installed in the cafes for that
awareness is necessery we can organize this in our weekends and can
form groups in order to do the awareness and support for those who
using linux servers.
and good chatting applications with extenseble features and good
user interfaces can also be developed as this is another thing our
local people uses regulerly.
all these are my ideas or dreams but if some one from this community
can show the interest then i am ready to give my service for the
things like this.

regards
     sunil yousuf.
