Hi rm,
   Please don't get carried away..
There is lot of mention of "American Companies"..it sounds like
American Military or something..
Redhat,IBM,HP,Dell,Sun,Google are American Companies tooo..
FSF is American too :-) though a 501(c)(3) organisation.

Anyway its good that piracy raids on illegal software happen and
people switch to free software..coz most windoze system becomes
security burden when connected to net by becoming proxy for botnet
attacks, spammers and nodes which unleashes DoS..

Again ..all commercial public companies at some point of time..break
free from its inherited ethics("Don't be Evil" slogans not
withstanding..) and turn to
maximising profit "by any and all means necessary.."
So my point is..that the focus should be "unethical practices" like
vendor-lockins,DRMs,software patents,closed and non-free
software,FUD,EEE(embrace,extend,exterminate), de-commoditisation of
network protocols,data formats etc.

Don't think for a moment that Indian Companies are any
better..InfoSyS, Wipro and all
are at forefronts denigrating free software(remember their opinions in
meetings about OOXML)..Dont know why Narayan Murthy and all are given
all sort of awards..becoz they made money??? for themselves..!! (ok
ok..they do charity too.big deal...poor us..great them.)
I don't know whether Kerala LDF Govt implements free software out of
understanding of the concept or just plain
anti-Americanism..(thankfully RMS frequently checks-up on them..so
there is hope..)

"Socialism(Communism) is a philosophy of failure, the creed of
ignorance, and the gospel or envy, its inherent virtue is the equal
sharing of misery" - Winston Churchill

just my thoughts..
