The suggestion in the second paragraph is really worthy. But about the first para, I think it is not because of the addiction but apparent easiness in getting knowledge, getting problems solved, getting user friendly softwares and so on. A linux user is still an odd man out in fields other than that related mainly to computers.
So imparting knowledge frenquently so that it is updated , rendering help in solving problems related to Linux and free softwares and guiding in the correct direction continuously will definitely keep any one attatched to the movement. There are still many people suffering from the malfunctionings of windows and yet not able to get out of that. Mainly because, 1. They do not know such malfunctioning is near to zero in Linux. 2. Even if they know periferal ideas, they are not in a position to switch to Linux with confidence. 3. They do not have the basic knowledge or they are in the primary stages which limits them from getting the advantages of forums like Ilug . So I think giving awareness continuously is the best thing that can be done.
