okey, so I found what works and what does not.
`open <message:url>` works and opens in context, but using spotlight to
find a message and pressing enter does not.
Any idea ?

Are you sure about this? It appears to still work for me. Just to
make sure, try this:
defaults read com.freron.MailMate MmOpenMessageURLInContext
open
"message://%[email protected]%3e"
well *That* worked.
