Follow-up question: is there any way to propagate some tags from incoming messages to their replies? I.e., if I receive a message automatically or hand-tagged with "project1", is there some way to ensure that my response message inherits that tag, without having to reproduce the tagging rule from INBOX to Sent Messages?
There's no built-in way to do this. It's an old todo-item to allow some tags to be defined to be thread-based, that is, MailMate would always keep the tag in sync for all emails in the same thread. In other words, tagging one message tags them all and vice versa. I guess something like that would work in this case as well.
I guess I could simply use a rule that lives in "All Messages" to cover both Inbox and Sent, but that seems a bit odd.
It'll only work if the same rule works for incoming and sent message. In that case, you could/should create a smart mailbox including only Inbox/Sent email and add the rule to that instead.
