Despite being Danish I haven't really ever looked into the issue of localizing keyboard shortcuts.

I know a lot of people who aren't developers use the US layout all the time but my touch typing has never been good and, besides I grew up with EN UK…

I did notice though that Apple is apparently trying to solve the problem described above in macOS 12. To learn more, a starting point could be the links/quotes in this blog post.

In short, a shortcut like ⌥⌘[ will be mapped to something using the same physical keys as on the US keyboard. This does appear to happen if I switch to a Danish keyboard layout.

This is just for your information, I haven't really developed an opinion on whether it's good or bad :)

Thanks very much for the link, but it sounds awful! Anyway, I'm holding of from ≥ 12 until I'm sure Apple has fixed most of the bugs and hasn't crippled the OS by turning it into IOS for big screens! ;-)

Seeing as MM has bindings for **nearly** every command I can see this is a problem. AFAIK it's really only [] and {} that are off limits for most mappings because they have to be composed. French mappings have their very own weirdness not related to an alphabet with more than 26 characters…
