Different IP isn't necessarily sufficient, ie if you sign both marketing
and transactional with the same dkim domain, we are building a single
reputation for that domain.

Which somewhat answers Doug's question, sure, using different domains may
mean different reputation and handling, which may be more or less important
if some internal ADMDs have different spamminess.

We've mostly used different sub-domains when we want to be harsher for
phishing purposes, but we've always had them match the from address in that
case (ie, From: [email protected] is signed with
accounts.google.com).
