They make very good spam-sign.

I agree that some UTF-8 characters are a great indicator of spam. Emoji characters in Subject: or From: won't do your email much good on many systems.

Accented characters in real names are pretty universally accepted though. Even real names entirely in scripts that are nothing like ASCII.
