It will be because the list admin has enabled the Mailman option to
do this, which is one of the ways to avoid the DKIM signature being
broken by the mailing list when it pretends to send email with the
original author's domain.

Without it there can be deliverability issues, so it's becoming more
and more common with mailing lists.

I don't really get how it's harder to see the mail's source since
the person's name is right there in the From header still. The only
time it bothers me is when I want to send a direct reply off-list
and then I have to look harder for their email address.
