Black Friday mail spam is so "last decade". Apps is where it's at.

I woke up to somewhere around 25 different 'notifications' from Android
apps telling me to subscribe to crap services (i.e. "Sign up for a year of
free ringtones" or "Buy the paid version of this app to stop receiving spam
notifications and ads while using it").

Then there was the store-app-spam from apps like Walmart and Amazon.
Various alerts throughout the day about 'great deals on <cheap irrelevant
crap like a toaster or boots>'.

My favorite was when I tried to turn on the hue lights in my office for the
meeting green screen. Philips Hue decided the perfect time to advertise
over-priced light bulbs, light strips, and light switches was when I was
trying to turn one of them on.

Quite a few apps were uninstalled on Friday and Monday and their
accompanying hardware was tossed in the dumpster. For everything else, I
turned off their ability to send any sort of notification. As for in-app
spam, I won't purchase another Philips Hue product. Once the lightbulbs
die, I'll switch back to LED bulbs and use a lightswitch like a caveman.
