Don't have this issue. No shitty, unnecessary apps on my tablet and not even
a single notification (I don't have a smartphone at all; when it comes to
mobile devices, I use a tablet only - when I need Internet access while away
from my computer, what's the point in trying to use any GUI on a screen so
small that you have trouble to touch the correct button and not the nearby
one?). Just don't install anything that isn't absolutely *necessary* to do
what you need that device for.

And as for apps that advertise their paid versions, if you consider to
install any semi-paid commercial app, pause for a moment and think if you
can find a FOSS equivalent that is completely free and won't nag you with
advertisements. There's always F-Droid where you can often find replacements
for many commercial apps (often even better!)
