I get your desire to rid yourself of the annoyances.
But I try to go one step further and contact the companies that produce said apps / hardware and tell them that I have both rid myself of them and -- more importantly to the vendor -- will be actively discouraging anyone and everyone I know from using their app / hardware and why. The latter has gotten more than one "Oh, we hadn't considered that" type response.
Without the negative message making it back to vendors, many will naively assume that everything is perfectly rosy.
