Thanks Simon and Ken! I am not aware of them having any abuse outside of
our platform. I have no evidence of it.

I also should have mentioned we use shared IPs so there is no issue with
volume from our servers, however volume from the domain is definitely
spikey. They only send every 2-3 months when they promote a new event.

I noticed that they had a lot of deferrals about an unusual rate of
incoming mail when they started sending. Our ESP adapted and started
throttling the customer but perhaps not enough because then the blocks
started. The mail is now all getting delivered again, slowly, which in this
case is fine.

I'm going to talk to our ESP about throttling faster/more when they see
these Gmail deferrals to keep them from turning into blocks. That sounds
like it could work.
