We got a ding on our DNSSEC score, because the PTR record isn't
signed. Is this really as big an issue as the explanatory test makes
out?
No. It isn't ANYTHING.
Yet, reverse DNS is still considered a very important security
indicator for a number of services.
It's a clue, not reliable information. Never has been. In a world where
MS cannot reliably keep the As and PTRs of their outbound mail servers
consistent, a signature on a PTR can't be considered important.
